Polyacrylamide is a water-soluble polymer that is insoluble in most organic solvents and has good flocculation properties. It can reduce the frictional resistance between liquids. Based on ionic characteristics, it can be divided into four types: non-ionic, anionic, cationic, and amphoteric.
Product Features
The flocculation effect of polyacrylamide flocculant in wastewater treatment is due to its two characteristics: a long-chain (linear) molecular structure and the presence of a large number of active groups in the polyacrylamide molecule. Polyacrylamide is a straight-chain polymer, with each molecule composed of over 100,000 monomers, making the molecular chain quite long. If fully extended, its length would be tens of thousands of times longer than that of ordinary molecules(such as sucrose) or ions (such as Ca²⁺). Due to its long and thin molecular chain, it bends or coils into irregular curved shapes. This long molecular chain extends many chemically active groups outward: amide groups (-CONH₂) and carboxyl groups (-COO⁻). The amide group is a non-ionic group but is also adept at forming secondary valence bonds, adsorbing and connecting with active groups of other substances. Due to the long and thin molecular chain and numerous chemical active groups, polyacrylamide can form many connections with precipitated particles, resulting in larger flocs. The structure of these flocs is like cotton wool—loose, amorphous, interconnected but not very stable, with many internal spaces and fine networks that encapsulate a large amount of liquid. Thus, the density of the flocs is quite close to that of the liquid itself.

Usage Instructions
When dissolving, the product should be evenly and slowly added to a dissolving vessel with stirring to avoid clumping. The solution should be prepared at a suitable temperature, and prolonged excessive mechanical shear should be avoided. It is recommended to use a stirrer at 60–200 rpm, as higher speeds may cause polymer degradation and affect performance. Dilution ratio: 1–3‰; dosage: 1–3 kg per thousand tons of water.
